Approaching August marks a start of grain purchase season at Malsena. This year brings a break to oats being the first maturing culture in the past couple of years as the rye is harvested first. The rye, which normally ripes before oat or wheat under Lithuanian climate conditions, has endured colder than usual May the best among the cultures and has the biggest potential.

Five years ago, on October 10, Malsena brought World porridge day to Lithuania. Looking back, we could not have imagined that World porridge day was to become one of the most anticipated and celebrated autumn’s events in Lithuanian schools, and amongst all breakfasters.
We are proud that the project continues to maintain and grow its popularity in Lithuanian schools. This year 585 primary school classes had signed to celebrate this event, and started this morning with a lesson about healthy eating habits and benefits of grain products, such as grain porridge.

“Reikia draugų” (eng. “Need friends”) is a nation-wide social initiative supporting children and their families who suffer from oncological diseases in Lithuania. This year supporters of the initiative gathered a total of 37 thousand euros which is to be used for construction works of “Šeimos namai” (eng. “Family house”) – a support centre for families.
The initiative was launched by Charity foundation Mamų Unija (Mothers’ Union) in 2009, and was warmly welcomed by major food processing companies in Lithuania, as well as, customers of “Maxima” stores. Malsena was among the first companies to join the initiative back in 2010, and continued to support it throughout the years.

The contest is held annually by The Association for Trade Businesses in Lithuania (LPĮA ).

December marks a beginning of Christmas Eve Cookies baking season, and a start of educational workshops. For more than a decade, pupils from all over Lithuania have been gathering in Malsena to learn baking Christmas Eve Cookies. So far, more than ten thousand pupils have mastered this traditional dish baking secrets.
