What is bran? WHEAT BRAN is the hard outer layer of grain, which is removed when the grain is milled. Edible bran is often titled as „intestine cleaner“ due to its effect. It starts swelling in the stomach and makes one feel full, which is a good feature for people attempting to lose weight. It acts like ballast and speeds up digestion and food movement in the intestines.
Nutritional fibres, which are abundant in wheat bran (44.9 g/100 g), are among the most valuable food ingredients.
Wheat bran contains high concentrations of mineral substances, such as magnesium, phosphorus, iron, folium acid, vitamins B1, B2, B6 and pantothenic acid (PP).
Use: put the bran into kefir, yoghurt, vegetable juice, fruit juice or curd, wait until it swells; add bran into dough for pancakes, pastry, bread and pies.
